Carnovsky - RGB fabulous landscapes

the RGB experiment continues…this time using new materials and technologies, in which carnovsky (francesco rugi and silvia quintanilla) expands on their project which began back in 2010 (see designboom's coverage of their first RGB exhibition here).
during milan design week 2013, within the fondazione adolofo pini, the duo presented their 'RGB fabulous landscapes' in an exhibition focused on the interpretation of the landscape and meteorological phenomena: atmosphere landscapes, architectonic and perspective landscapes, emotional landscapes, ephemeral landscapes, all in continuous movement.
up close look at the digital fresco technique used to create the gigantic graphic of a sky
in the courtyard of the historic building, one was welcomed by the 'atmospherics' series, a set of panoramic sky scenes. the major work of them all being 'atmospheric n. 1'--a depiction of a giant sky which has been printed using the innovative technique of digital fresco executed by the italian company graphicreport, illuminated by RGB LED lights which offered a visual display of ever changing sunrises, sunsets and storms.
resulting effects and depiction of the panoramic sky graphic under the changing RGB LED light
the altered light results in intense sunrises...
as well as sunsets.
'landscape n.1'
on the ground floor, an enveloping installation of an enchanted forest immersed visitors in an atmosphere which gradually took them from lush green surroundings, into an architectural, built space--the exterior reversing into the interior, the vanishing point of the columns and perspective planes multiplying the room into infinity.

on this occasion the duo has chosen the theme 'jungle', exploring its twisted and dense vegetation and unusual creatures through new wallpapers and limited edition prints. the exploration of the jungle theme also lends itself to another, 'the night'. as part of this exhibition, rui and qunitanilla present peices from a new series that represents an evolution of their RGB project: RGB - the black series. 'la selva' is on view until september 21st, 2011.

carnovsky: RGB exhibitionjohanssen gallery, berlin
on now until february 10th, 2011
milan-based collective carnovsky (francesco rugi and silvia quintanilla) presents 'RGB', an exhibition which showcases a series of wallpapers that mutate and interact with different chromatic stimulus. the wall coverings consist of three different patterns (in red, yellow and blue respectively) that when overlapped, result in a disorientation of images. when colors and patterns mix up, the lines and shapes entwine becoming oneiric and not completely clear. through a filter (a colored light or transparent material) it is possible to see clearly the layers in which the image is composed. each one of the red, green and blue (RGB) filters serve to reveal just one of the three patterns, hiding the other two.
without the RGB filters, the three overlapping patterns create a chaotic mix of images

carnovsky: RGB silk scarves
first image
'bestiario'from the RGB silk scarves collection by carnovsky
all photography © marco menghi
all images courtesy of carnovsky
artists/designers francesco rugi and silvia quintanilla of milan-based firm carnovsky have translated their RGB (red, green, blue) wallpaper to silk, creating a collection of three scarves. 'rosone', 'jungla' and 'bestiario' are wearable art pieces which add the element of transparency and movement to the impressions. the three limited edition scarves (99 copies and three artist proofs), are pure silk peau d'ange and are printed and made in italy. each copy of the collection is numbered and signed.
the patterns themselves combine the primary colors, resulting in an intricate yet disorienting image. if closely examined, or with the aid of a colored filter, the layers reveal a graphic composition of the animal kingdom.

RGB Color est e pluribus unus RGB is a work about the exploration of the “surface’s deepness”. RGB designs create surfaces that mutate and interact with different chromatic stimulus. RGB’s technique consists in the overlapping of three different images, each one in a primary color. The resulting images from this three level’s superimposition are unexpected and disorienting. The colors mix up, the lines and shapes entwine becoming oneiric and not completely clear. Througha colored filter (a light or a transparent material) it is possible to see clearly the layers in which the image is composed. The filter’s colors are red, green and blue, each one of them serves to reveal one of the three layers.
RGB first installation has been shown during Milan Design Week at J&V showroom
